Shetland Wool Week Photo Album - colours

It's been almost a month since I came home from Shetland Wool Week, 

so it's definitely time to share some photos!

No finishing in February

But I almost finished this pair of mittens, 

and now, on March 6th they're done, 

with all ends woven inn too.

 I actually gave them away in a birthday party on the 24th of February 

- so I had to finish! The pattern is my own, 

En smak av Muhu (A taste of Muhu), 

published in the Swedish online magazine Avmaskat this winter. 

After six months I can self publish it on Ravelry, 

so it will be available in Norwegian and English this autumn. 

But if you read Swedish, the Magazine is good value, 

with seven patterns alltogether. 

And I did start the second sleeve of my Blomekrans sweater, 

so now I just have to transport myself down to the cuff. 

I now I should have been able to finish this in February, 

but as often before, a secret mitten project came in the way. 

Finishing and mending in March, then? 

I will finish the sweater, 

and perhaps some more secret mittens.

Goodies from Breidag #3

Yes, I came home with more goodies from Breidag, 

just haven't had time to blog yet. 

Here's some hand painted yarn

She has found the colours from different Dutch paintings,

and hand painted a Dutch palette of yarn. 

I had a hard time deciding which palette to choose, 

but ended up with this one. 

And the colours inspired my project

I made another one! 

Ambitus necwarmer - brilliant free pattern.

I have finished the third rainbow project, a cowl. It's a brilliant free pattern on Ravelry, called Ambitus. I have found the pattern via Annepaalandet, who has made several cowls. I used what I found in my stash sport and fingering weight, and rainbow colours. Yesterday, ends were woven in by a good friend, who was in between projects, and was itching to use her hands. Thank you very much!

The cowl is warm and colourful,

Oops! - A rainbow

I did not plan to make this a rainbow cowl, I just picked some nice colours from my stash. Working on the other half now, want to wear it on my trip to Shetland. Pattern is BMC cowl by Kate Davies.

Dreaming of Provence

It seems I can't stop making hats at the moment..

Here's my newest design - "Dreaming of Provence"

I lived in Provence for half a year in my youth. I've been back a couple of times, but it's a long time ago now. 25 years, to be exact, hard to believe, really, me being 29...

Petah is an Australian girl who fell in love with Provenc. She now organizes craft tours and other tours to Provence,  Provence Temptation. Tempting indeed, isn't it?

I would love to go back soon. Maybe next year. In the meantime, I knit and dream of Provence.

The hat is worked in Finullgarn. You only need appr. 8 g of each colour, so it's perfect for left overs. I think it would be lovely worked in hand painted sock yarn too. Are you interested? I could need a test knitter or two (repeating myself, aren't I?). At the moment I have written it in Norwegian, but I will translate it as soon as I can. 

The hat is inspired by the flowers of Provence, poppies, sun flowers, lavender.

Mexican colour and craft - and Twist collective's two weeks sweater challenge

I've decided to join Twist collective's two weeks sweater challenge (ravelink). I'm not going to make a whole sweater, but I intend to finish this one. It's my version of Paper dolls (ravelink).


I wrote about the pattern and discussed the colours in an earlier post. Let's say I've been inspired by Mexican colours - I'll make the birds yellow on purple background, and use red and green for the rest of the pattern - at least that's what I think today.
