Football hats - buy 2 patterns, get 3!

From now till December 24th, you can get 3 football hat patterns for the price of 2! The money goes to football fields for the children in Lillehammer.

The football fields are ready, but still a little money is needed. Will I reach 25 000 Nkr before Christmas? It's an ambitious goal, but I try, and you can help!

Ravelry has made promotions possible, but there is obviously some bug in that feature, so I have to do this manually: You buy two patterns, and then send me an e-mail (torirot(at) gmail(dot) com) or a Ravelry message telling me which pattern you want as number three. buying Arne & Carlos`Christmas balls book!

They launched the book at Maihaugen, where they will be this year's Christmas tree designers. I was not able to go, but they are selling their signed books in the museum shop.

Arne and Carlos is a Norwegian design duo, and this year they are having sucecss with their new book: "Julekuler" - Christmas balls, this year. The book contains 55 designs - made using the same ball pattern. You can probably find free ball patterns or make your own, it's noe difficult, but the book is worth buying anyway if you like traditional Norwegian patterns and if you like Christmas crafting. There are lots of nice photos! Here's a photo I found on Flickr. And here are my balls so far. There will certainly be more before Christmas.

Modifications: Cast on using Judy's magic cast on. Used two colours alternating for the chain, I think it looks better than the one colour chain, a little bit like a Latvian braid.

Christmas knit along - O c t o b e r

Another pair of mittens is the October Christmas gift in the Christmas knit along.






When I first saw Helloyarn's Fiddlehead mittens, I fell in love the moment I saw them.
I wanted to find the perfect yarn and colours to make my own pair.
But time passed, and I couldn't make up my mind.
So I decided to give it a go with stash yarn, and make the perfect pair later.

The main colour is brown left overs from a Kauni effektgarn, joined by spit splicing.
The constrasting colours are Rauma Finullgarn, one of my favourite Norwegian yarns.
And the result is not bad, I think.
But a little small for my hands, so they will become Christmas gifts.

They're not lined, just a few cm of hem. I can warmly recommend the pattern!

More flowers

The hat pattern to go my Blomst mittens is now ready. When purchasing the mitten pattern, you will get the hat pattern for free until December 31st 2010. The hat has not been test knitted, so I’d appreciate any feedback.

The mitten pattern is available in Norwegian, and soon in English too. The hat pattern is available in both languages.

My Norwegian test knitter Judith has made a couple of useful tutorials on her blog about stranded mittens (in Norwegian): Thumb making and stranded colourwork with two colours.

Quick and fun baby knit

I was not looking for baby knitting when this cute little sweater pattern caught my eyes on a blog. And I had some Silk Alpaca yarn lying around - perfect. It was a quick and fun knit.

Yarn: Drops Garnstudio Silke Alpaca
Needles: 4 mm

I fell for the simplicity of the garter stitch together with the feather pattern.

I don't like working garter stitch in the round, and I don't like seaming, so I worked in the round, but turning work each round, joining in one side using wrap and turn. Not a perfect solution. I worked the sleeves flat. Next time I would probably work the body flat too, for some reason my garter stitch doesn't look the same when I work it in the round, knitting and purling.

The yarn is very soft, and I like the colours it comes in. The sweater will be sent to a little baby girl one of these days.

"Potato holiday"

Earlier, Norwegian school kids used to have an autumn holiday, to help harvesting potatoes. Nowadays, it's just another holiday, at a time when the mountan often shows its most beautiful colours.

So there was hiking, reading and knitting.

Of course my knitting matches both the autumn colours and the book I'm reading..

My Vine yoke cardigan is also coming along nicely. The yarn is the super soft Malabrigo Baby Merino - it will be this winter's favourite, if I finish it.

Same shit, new wrapping?

Remember my football hat for the local football club (Lillehammer fotballklubb)? Just after I finished that, they changed their logo... So I had to make a new pattern - now available both as a headband and a hat, for adult and child.




The title of this post was of course just to draw your attention!
Which of the logos do you prefer?? The new one is supposed to be more modern.

The pattern is sold for two new football fields.

So far I've raised just over 20 000 Norwegian kroner. I'm hoping to raise 25 000...
